Through her kindness and compassion to others, Betty allowed us to see the wonder of God’s grace and mercy at work within her.  A time to be born, The birth of Betty Jean, on December 12, 1945, in Hearne, Texas, to Fate King, Sr. and Carrie Sheppard King, was a day of celebration for her proud parents.  She grew up in a loving home and enjoyed the privileges of a loving relationship with her ten siblings. The family later relocated to the beautiful “Como” area of Fort Worth, Texas. A time to cherish, Betty Jean attended school in the Fort Worth Independent School District and proudly attended Como High School.  She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and was a faithful member of the Stanger's Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Overseer Roy W. West. She late joined with the Spirit of Truth Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder John C. King. While there she served as the President of the Adult Choir and as the Sunday School Secretary. She worked for Mrs. Baird’s Bakery and retired after 40 years of service. A time to love… She was blessed to become the mother to a bouncing  baby boy she named Doreon. She was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughter, Serita. Betty loved to bake and in particular, cake and she worked as a volunteer. She was a very beautiful and giving woman with a smile and heart as big as the sky. She will be missed by all whom loved and knew her. A  time  to  die... On June 15, 2018, Betty heard the call of her Master, saying “come unto me all that are heavy laden and I will give thee rest”, and she took His hand. She is now  reunited with her parents, Fate King and Carrie Sheppard King; sisters, Vernice King, Essie B Paige and Marie Angton; brother, Joe Willie Jerry and Fate King, Jr., and Lewis; and grandson, Eric Prescott. He will not leave you comfortless… Cherished memories are left in the hearts of her loving and devoted child, Doreon Devell King; brothers, Cardius King (Connie) and Charles King (Johnnie); sister, Christine King Haynes, granddaughter, Serita Armstead; several nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and dear friends.
