Doris Marie Zollicoffer

On the twenty-second day of June, in the year of nineteen hundred and fifty-four, a baby girl was born into the household of Choice and Elois Buris Johnson. All of this took place in the city of Honey Grove, Texas and they named their bundle of joy, Doris Marie.

Joyce grew up and attended the public schools in the Honey Grove Community and she was a graduate of Honey Grove High School. She later attended Prairie View A&M University, Texas University in Houston and Southwestern University in Oklahoma.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age and after relocating to the Fort Worth area she united with the East Maddox Missionary Baptist Church until the Lord called her home.

For over twenty years, Joyce worked as a Tax Preparer and was always found helping others out in their time of need. She later worked as a Secretary in the Accounts Payable Department at Hughley Hospital for over twelve and due to her health, she had to stop working.

On Monday, the ninth day of September, twenty-thirteen, Doris Marie Zollicoffer heard the bells toll for her work on earth was finished, and she was summoned to her new home in glory. She is now reunited with her mother, Elois Johnson and son, Cornelius Johnson.

Those left to cherish her sweet memory: son, Chevis Evans; father, Choice Johnson; brother, Jesse Morris and his wife Myra; sisters, Deylas Johnson and Unice Johnson; grandchildren, Kimberly Johnson-Franklin, Alia Evans, D’Quailyn Evans, J’Quan Evans and Bryon Johnson and his wife Myiesha; special friend, Willie Jack Neal and a host of other relatives and friends.
