Howard Lee

Rev. Howard James Lee was born August 28, 1935 as the first born child to Eddie and Josephine Lee in Moab County, Texas. On Sunday, January 8, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer, Howard passed away peacefully at home in his sleep. The day of his transition was spent with family and friends celebrating his life with prayer and singing. What a rejoicing celebration of life! Later that night in the early hours of the morning, the Lord whispered his name and he answered the call.

At an early age, Howard was described as being a daring young man and as the years progressed he continued to show his valiant love of life. Howard was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. (You better ask what you are eating off his stove). He was known for his colorful and adventurous commentaries. He could tell some stories!!!

He was a self-employed/entrepreneur who owned several businesses over a span of fifty years. This "warrior" spirit and "overcoming" drive is something that he has passed on to his children. He was a devoted father who loved and cherished his family. His children will always value his encouragement to stand firm and never give up, always remember family, and most importantly, trust the Lord because "serving Him will pay off after while". (which was also one of his favorite songs).

He accepted his call to ministry and in his early thirties and enjoyed many years of sharing the Gospel with others. Howard was a faithful and loyal member of Rising Star Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending worship service and fellowshipping with his brothers and sisters in Christ. He never met a stranger and everyone was family. His love for people could be seen in his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand. We rejoice in knowing that Heaven opened its gates and welcomed Rev. Howard James Lee home.

He was proceeded in death by his father and mother, Eddie and Josephine Lee, his wife Mildred Lee, his sisters Eddie Jane Green, Mittie Watson (Billie Watson), and Joyce Green (L.S.) Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Howard are his beloved sister Beatrice Thompson (Elton-deceased), and his beloved brother-in-law Milton Green. His loving children: Bessie Jackson (Jesse), James Lee, Rodney Lee (Kathy), Lisa Lee & Fianc, Travan, Valjean Lee-Ware, and Ebonie Basey. Stepchildren: Gloria Miller (J.D.), and Jackie Heights. Grandchildren: Sonya, Nikki (Clarence), Dee Dee, Vanchandra, Kentrel, Kaylon, Thomas, Kandon, Kelly, Anthony, Janeene, Jaylin, Jarel, Jordan, and Joi. Eight great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
