Idella Walton

Service: Noon Saturday, Feb. 15, in the sanctuary of Deliverance Temple Church, 2126 Amanda Ave., the Rev. Larry Reed, pastor. Wake: 7 p.m. Friday in the Clarence Jimerson Chapel of Serenity Funerals & Cremations. “A time to be born”…..Ecclesiastes 3:1 Idella Rose Walton born to the late parents of Agnes Davis and Asbury Rose on December 18, 1927, in Lake Providence, Louisiana. Growing up as a young girl she had to learn to cook and clean to help her parents.  A time to believe, “We walk by faith, not by sight.” II Corinthians 5:7  Idella upon the confession of her faith accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She united and served with Joy Tabernacle under the leadership of Bishop V. R. Robinson. She knew the value of trusting and believing in the incomprehensibility of God. A time to be active, “Whatever you do, do it with all your heart”...Col. 3:23 Idella met Galvester Sr. at age 16, soon after falling madly in love, he asked her hand in marriage. The couple married and nine children were born to this union.  She and Galvester were happily married for 54 years.   Idella worked many jobs, one as a cook in Louisiana and a housekeeper at Harris Hospital. The couple moved to Fort Worth in 1974 to have a better life for their family. Around 1988, Idella stopped working and became a homemaker. Continuing to care for her family and keeping she and her husband’s legacy going.   A time to mourn, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted…”Psalms 34:18 Ms. Walton was a genuinely loved woman and her faith kept her strong through the years until God called her home. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. We will miss her funny sense of humor and her stern discipline. Idella’s traditions will be passed down to the descendants of her for years to come.
