James Lee

On September 7, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas, God blessed James Lee, Jr and Alma Henson with a bouncing baby boy, James Lee, III. He was the second of eight children. They grew up in a loving home and shared a remarkable bond.

He was educated in the Fort Worth Independent School District in the great Stop-Six community. He attended Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. James accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Greater Mt. Zion Baptist church under the leadership of Pastor Ernest McGhee. He later joined with the New Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R.A. Toliver and served as an usher.

"A Time to cherish" .
In 1971, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country for several years. He was honorably discharged from the Army and returned home. James worked for the Fort Worth Plastering Company for many years and later became a truck driver for Hogans Trucking Company. He was blessed to become the father to three wonderful children; James Edward, LaPetra, and Rolesha. He loved spending time with his children and watching them grow.

In 1979 he meet and fell in love with Evelyn Diane. They dated for several years and finally married on June 9, 1986. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make everyone laugh. Antiques cars were one of his many joys in life along with watching the Dallas Cowboys play. He loved spending time with family and friends.

"And a time to die" We shall behold Him, face to face, in all of His glory. On the morning of January 6, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas, James transitioned from labor to reward. He is now reunited with his son; James Edward Lee, father; James Lee, Jr., brother; Herman Earl Lee, and sisters; Sarah Anderson and Lenora Broughton.

"I will not leave you comfortless".
Those who remain to cherish his legacy include loving wife of 36 years; Evelyn Diane, two children; LaPetra Bowman of San Antonio, Texas and Rolesha Washington (Lee, Jr.) of Norfolk, Virgina, one grandson; Lee Washington, III, mother; Alma Dennis, four siblings; John Lee, Larry Lee (Michelle), Jessie Wilburn and Laura Michelle Brumfield, step-brother; James Ingram, two aunts; Mary Katherine David and Luetisha Lee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
