Lorenza Allen

Lorenza Allen, “My Daddy, Paw-Paw, Spookey, Beachnut”, was born March 25, 1935, in      Marshall, Texas to George Allen and Maggie Fisher Allen.  After the passing of his mother, his father later married Della Mae Manning who raised him. Lorenza answered the call of the Lord to come home Sunday, July 6, 2014. He received his formal education in the public schools of Harrison County.  At a young age, he was baptized and spiritual matured as a member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  At a later time in his life, Mr. Allen saw the need to rededicate his life to Christ. As an adult, he joined Golden Gate Church of God In Christ in 2000, under the leadership of Superintendent Johnny Castleberry.  In 2002, Mr. Allen became a Deacon, serving faithfully until his health began to fail. Lorenza met and married the love of his life, Ms. Margie Hayward. To this union they added five beautiful children. Lorenza loved his wife and children dearly and found great joy in being with them. He was employed with Texas Steel Manufacturing Company from 1963–1999, as an Over Head Crane Operator. After retirement, Lorenza started his own lawn service; any yard he worked in was always well manicured. He took the utmost pride in tending to the needs of   Dr. and Mrs. Larry Reeves’ yard until his passing. After retiring he was able to find the time to give way to his other loves; fishing (he could bait and reel in any type of fish). Oh, and gardening; he loved to plant flowers and vegetables, and watch them grow!  Let’s not forget the backyard barbecues……you talk about someone who could fire up a pit and have tender tasting BBQ, Lorenza was the one. When he was enjoying the outdoors, he could be found watching westerns and CNN. He was an avid follower of      politics and other government related issues.  However, his most precious time was with family. He looked forward to the family vacations, regardless as to where the vacations were, he was there. At the tender age of 79 on July 6, 2014, the Lord dispatched His Angels to bring Lorenza home. He is now reunited with his daughter; Joyce Ann and grandson; Danny Allen, seven     siblings; Benjamin, Olen, Eddie Joe, Glen, Mary V, George and Dorothea, his mother; Maggie Fisher Allen and his father; George Allen. He leaves to cherish warm memories, his loving and devoted wife of 56 years; Margie, children; Phyllis Allen-Johnson (Karl), Audrey Crawford (Fred), Jeffery Allen (Sharon), Angela Tolbert (Carlton), Lorenza Allen Jr. (Eva), adopted sons; Fred Coleman and Barrett Anderson, all of Fort Worth, Texas.  God-daughter; Joretta Kindles, brothers; Freddie (Ola), Ray (Bobbie), and Vester (Sally) of Dallas, Texas; Alonza (Mildred) of Fort Worth; Wayland and Devonia (Emma) of California; Edward of Marshall, Grandchildren; Trevisa, Jason, Drelisa,             Deon’Shea, Jeffery, Karl II, Marcus, Bryan, Aubrey, Eddie, Joshua, Evin, and Danti’, 23 great-grandchildren and two god grandchildren, a very special friend Patricia McBeth (his road dog) and a host of other relatives and friends.
