Lorice "Grannygoose" Norseweather

Lorice Ham Norseweather, affectionately called “GrannyGoose” by her grandchildren, was born on November 15th, 1937 to proud parents, Woodrow and Irene Ham in Douglass, Texas. Lorice loved to love on people and took great pride in being the eldest sister to Mary, Monroe, and James. In June of 1954, Lorice gave her hand and heart in marriage to David Lane Norseweather and they had a loving and committed marriage of 57 years until he proceeded her in death in November 2011. To this blessed union was born three children: Loritta Dionne Norseweather, David Lane Norseweather, Jr. of San Fernando Valley, CA, and Otis Lane Norseweather of Douglass, Texas.
Beyond being a wife, daughter, and sister, nothing brought Lorice more joy than being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She bragged about all of her “babies” and spoiled each one in her own way. Those were her babies and she did not play about any of them. She LOVED her kids. Their happiness is what brought her pleasure and she showed them how much she cared any and every time that she could.
Although we could never be ready for her transition to heaven, Lorice was greeted by her husband, David Norseweather, Sr.; daughter, Loritta Norseweather; parents, Woodrow and Irene Ham; brother, Monroe Ham, Sr.; granddaughter, Shimenese Norseweather, and a host of other close family and friends. As she transitioned into the presence of the Lord, we find comfort because it is written according to John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” and Matthew 25:23 “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful... Enter into the joy of the Lord!” For these scriptures alone give us peace and comfort.
Lorice LOVED the Lord. She was a prayer warrior and her home was always filled with prayer. She enjoyed her life in the church, and was a devoted and active member of Iron Wheel Baptist Church while she lived in Texas. She loved God’s Word and constantly reminded all of those around her to be thankful and to pray.
Lorice will be greatly missed by her sons, David Lane Norseweather Jr. and Otis Norseweather, Sr.; grandchildren: Otis Norseweather, Jr., Alicia Norseweather, Phillip Norseweather, LaRitta Norseweather, Quentin Norseweather, Sharaine Norseweather, Otis Norseweather III, David Antwain Hinton Norseweather, and Korriana Norseweather. A special grand nephew that she helped raise, Monroe “Monty” Ward. Great Grandchildren: Dejanae Norseweather, Destiny Celestine, Gabriel Norseweather, Jessiah Broussard, Quentin Norseweather, Jr., Theodore Higginson, Leigha Norseweather, Aaliyah Norseweather, Elijah Norseweather, Jeselle Norseweather, Eileen Norseweather, Majeste Norseweather, Kalier Norseweather, Kassidy Norseweather, Kaylene Norseweather, and Kijion Norseweather; sister, Mary Miller; brother, James Ham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
