Mamie Land

A beautiful gift from God was given to Orvil Shaw, Sr. and Edna Pope on February 8, 1948. Her parents would name the gift, MAMIE LOUISE.  She, along with her siblings, Carlon, Orvil and Rodney, were reared in a Christian home where there was plenty of love and laughter. Mamie Louise was educated in the Fort Worth Independent School District, graduating from none other than Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School, home of the Wildcats, class of 1966. After graduation she enrolled in Texas Christian University (TCU), where she was a dietician and nutrition   major. Mamie was a person of many interest. She loved collecting odd and unique items in her past time. Some of them being roosters, figurines and mostly angels; for she was an earthly angel herself. However, her most favorite thing to do was cooking; she loved to “burn” in the kitchen. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy; she loved being in their company and entertaining them. She was the proudest grandmother ever! On March 10, 2015, Mamie Louise Land entered the gates of heaven where she was welcomed by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is now sitting at the welcome table with her husband (Edwin), her father (Orvil Shaw, Sr.), and her brother (Orvil Shaw, Jr.). She leaves precious and fond memories in the hearts of her mother, Mrs. Edna Smith; her children, Carlon J. Shaw, Miracle Land and Roderick Shaw (Sedonia), all of Fort Worth; her grandchildren, Javin Shaw, Roderick Shaw, Jr., Emeril Shaw, Jayden Shaw, Malachi Shaw and Daylan Cashaw; her siblings, Carlon Shaw and Rodney Smith (Kimberly), and a host of other loving family members and friends.
