Patricia Smith

Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Saturday in Jimerson Chapel of Serenity Funerals & Cremations. Visitation: Noon to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by a wake until 8 p.m. Patricia Ann Clark was born August 14, 1949, in Galveston, Texas to the parentage of Angles and Rozella Clark. The family moved to Fort Worth when Patricia was very small, so aside from living in Los Angeles, CA for a short period of time, Fort Worth has always been home. She was educated in the Fort Worth Independent School District. Because of her personality, ready smile and quick wit, she was usually with the “in” crowd. She always wanted to be out front and as a result, participated with the marching band as a Flag Bearer. She was an avid sports fan; her favorite being tennis and football. Upon graduating from Paul Lawrence Dunbar in 1967, she entered and graduated from Harris School of Nursing. She was a highly skilled and compassionate nurse, who worked in several hospitals and nursing home facilities in the Fort Worth area. She was also the “medical” person for the family and friends. Dispensing medicine, changing bandages and or course giving advice were just a few of the things that Ms. Pat was very good at. In 2012, after about forty (40) years of nursing, she decided to retire, but was diagnosed with a life threatening illness and did not get to really enjoy her retirement. Patricia accepted Christ as Savior at an early age at Johnson Street Christ Holy Sanctified Church under the leadership of Bishop S. O. Walton, Sr. She married Willie James Smith, Sr. and to this union two sons, Scott Cameron and Willie James, Jr., were born. The marriage ended in divorce and Patricia became a single parent, but as the saying goes, “she kept it    moving”. The family would like to thank Southwest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Many of the staff had worked with her at various facilities over the years. They served her with honor, dignity and extra loving care during the last stages of her illness. Patricia is preceded in death by her father, Angles Clark, Sr. and her oldest son, Scott Cameron Smith. She leaves to mourn, her mother, Rozella Clark; son, Willie James Smith, Jr. (Zena), grandson, Matthew Brockington; two sisters, Norman Howard and Loistene Arnold-Washington (Charles); brothers, Stanley Leon Clark, Angles Clark, Jr., James Edward Clark, Terry Dewayne Clark and special brother, Gregory Harris; two aunts, Pearlie B. Ross and Pearlie Rawls; one niece, four nephews, three great nieces and six great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
