Rodney Lance Franklin, Sr.

April 4, 1966 — June 20, 2020

Rodney Lance Franklin, Sr.

Rodney Lance Franklin Sr. was born to LeRoy and JoAnn Franklin on April 4th, 1966. He was a beautiful bouncing baby boy with bow legs - which straightened out after a few years. His Aunt Evelyn began calling him Rodney Boo and Boo was his nickname throughout the rest of his adult life. Rodney confessed to know God at an early age at Community Baptist Church.
He was a graduate of Everman High School. He later began driving trucks for Dilliard’s and Sears. His passion was his love for music. He had a collection of all kinds that would soothe him during his illness. His family meant the world to him, his cousins - the boys and the girls - were always together. The boys doing flips in the yard and the girls getting hugs and kisses. The aunts cooking and baking for him. One aunt - Aunt Dorothy - would bake him a pecan pie every year for his birthday - his favorite. The uncles shouting over the football games especially the Dallas Cowboys. When ending his conversations with anyone, or making comments on Facebook, most people knew that famous last word would be “Jelly”. It was his way of saying goodbye.
Rodney was preceded in death by his brother Patrick Franklin, grandfather Curtis Smith, Sr., grandmother Hattie Hightower, Uncles Curtis Smith, Jr., Steven Smith, Tommie Clayton, Aunt Carolyn Hamilton, and Nephew Antjuan Harris.
He leaves to cherish his memories Mom - JoAnn Daniels and husband Kenneth Daniels, Father Leroy Franklin (Lulu), Stepmom Toylee Franklin, Daughters Cherrelle, Ryan, and Shamia, Sons Jordan and Rodney Jr., Brothers Darron and Chris, Sisters Regina and Tina, Stepsisters Fellishia and Sherryl Daniels, and 5 grandkids. A host of aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, and friends.
