Ruth Ann Woodard Dickson Obituary
Ms. Ruth Ann Woodard Dickson was born August 27, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas to the parentage of Ed Lee and Bernice Caldwell Woodard. Ruth Ann was guided to adulthood by James and Bernice Caldwell White.
She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age and united with Antioch Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor O.L. Hegmon.
Ruth Ann was educated in the Fort Worth Public School system. Ruth Ann and the late Joe Will Dickson united in marriage on January 19, 1969. To that marriage two sons were born, Gary Dale and Joe Will, Jr. After marriage, Ruth and Joe attended as faithful members of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, under the late Rev. B.L. Smith. Ruth later united with East Saint Paul Baptist Church under the late Rev. L.S. Wilson. She remained a faithful member under Rev. Darrell Ward until her death.
After Ruth received her real estate license, she became the property manager of the Oakland Terrace Apartments in Everman, Texas. She was known affectionately as "Miss Ann" by the apartment's tenants and was honored by the Fort Worth Housing Authority for her outstanding work in the service of her tenants. Ruth also received the Caldwell family's 'Family Jewel
Award' for her steady but compassionate leadership for all of her extended family. On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, the Lord called Ruth Ann home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Will Dickson, Sr.; her mother, Bernice Caldwell White; her "Daddy" James Lesley White, Sr., her brothers, James Lesley White, Jr., Don Lindsey White and Arnold Gene Caldwell; her sisters, Betty Woodard and Margaret White.
Those left to cherish her memories are: father, Ed Lee Woodard; sons, Gary Dale and Joe Will Dickson; grandsons, Gary Dickson. and Malcolm Simpson; granddaughter, Ebony Simpson, Contessia Roston, and Kayleigh Jackson; there are six great grandchildren; uncles, Lindsey Caldwell, Robert Woodard, George Woodard; aunts, Ollie Mae Caldwell, Autherine Sherman, Ida Mae Phillips; Verdis Woodard and Annie Woodard; and a host of other beloved relatives and friends. The Dickson family would like to give special recognition to the entire Anderson family for their love, kindness and support over the many years.
