Sherine Mayfield

Sherine’s Story “To everything there is a season; a time to be born”...Ecclesiastes 3:1 Sherine Mayfield was born on Nov 17, 1947, in Tyler, Texas, to parents; Sherman and Corine Mayfield (High).  After Sherine’s dad passed when she was very young, her mom continued to seek a better life for her children so at the age of seven, her family moved to Fort Worth.  She attended school in the Fort Worth School Independent School District and graduated from IM Terrell in 1968.  A time to believe, “We walk by faith, not by sight.” II Corinthians 5:7 More importantly, Sherine loved the Lord and found comfort in His Word.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age, and wasn’t pretentious about her relationship with God.  She never complained, and kept going even when she did not feel the best.  “A time to love’….Ecclesiastes 3:4 Sherine cherished family and friends.  She grew up with her cousins and remained very close to them.  You couldn’t beat her going to the casinos and fellowshipping with her family and friends.  Family gatherings and trips were important to her Sherine was very straightforward and could be brutally honest so you never had to wonder what was on her mind.  At the same time, she had a “heart of gold” and would do anything for anyone.  Professionally, Sherine worked as a nurse, owned her own daycare and did private duty home healthcare until she retired; but, her real profession was cooking.  Under the dictionary, next to the word “cook”, you might find Sherine’s name.  She loved to cook and watch cooking shows.  If you knew Sherine, you knew that she was an excellent cook and hostess.  She made you feel welcome each time.  She also loved helping people and caring for children.  She raised not only her biological children; Derone, Kasandra, Dereak and Kevin, but also her adopted niece; Robin and her granddaughter;  Brittney.  She often cared for other grandchildren and cousins whenever needed. She was always surrounded by children. “I am now ready to be offered”… II Timothy 4:6 On Sunday, May 31, 2015, the Lord put His arms around our dear Sherine Mayfield and whispered, "Come with me." Although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, your beautiful smile is at rest. Although we are going to miss “our precious Sherine”, we are at peace because we know that she is now at eternal rest with the Lord. She is now reunited with her parents; Sherman and Corine Mayfield and grandson; Derone Mayfield, Jr. “I will not leave you comfortless”…St. John 14:13 She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Derone Mayfield (Jennifer), Kasandra Mayfield (Cedric), Dereak Mayfield (Erricka) and Kevin Mayfield (Treasure); niece, Robin Broussard (Darelle); 16 grandchildren;  Brittney, Ashley, DeShunetta, Chassidy, Javon, Breauna, LaShuntae, Tiffany, Shavon, LaKiesha, Lil. Dereak, Morgan, Jaylon, Kaden, Savannah and Alyiah, 16 great-grandchildren; two great-nephews; five great-nieces; several cousins; and other   loving relatives and friends.
