Moland, Officiant Pastor James Fitzgerald, Eulogist.                                                                                                                                                                A time to be born, Thelma was born on December 21, 1931, in Falls County, Texas to the parentage of Forrest and Iona Buhl. She grew up in a loving, Christian home in Lott, Texas with her siblings. A time to cherish, Thelma accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Goodwill Baptist Church in Lott, Texas. During her early years, she attended A. B. Davis School in Lott,  Texas. She graduated from Moore High School (Waco, Texas), and later graduated from Paul Quinn College with a Bachelor of  Science Degree in Education. She furthered her education at Texas Southern University receiving a Masters of Science in Education. Thelma married the love of her life Dock Jackson, Jr. After marrying, they moved to Killeen, Texas where she began her teaching career in the Killeen Independent School District. Thelma taught in the School District for almost forty years until her retirement. She was loved by her students. She was a member of Marlboro Missionary Baptist Church, and later moved her membership to Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church. Her active church involvement included: maintaining the bulletin board; working in Vacation Bible School; a Sunday School teacher; and, a member of the missionary society. She remained a faithful member until her health began declining. Thelma loved to work in the yard, reading, and sports. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  A time to die, On August 28, 2018, Thelma was called home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents Forrest and Iona Buhl; two children Larry Jackson and Michael Jackson; three brothers Cedell Buhl, Forrest Buhl, Jr, and Lou Carl Buhl; and one sister Shirley Douglas. He will not leave you comfortless… She leaves to cherish her memories her children Tyrone  Jackson (Gloria), Vanessa Jackson, Adrian Jackson (Sherrie); and daughter-in-law Henrietta Jackson; siblings Billie Thompson, Bertha Campbell, Dorothy London, Janett DeGrate, and Lynette Cunningham; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and other family and friends.
