Valarie Jo Beltran - Berry

It was 26,090 days ago that Valarie Jo Clark, was born in Detroit,
Michigan. It was a Tuesday with partly sunny skies and another
“baby boomer” arrived to celebrate life on earth. This year
reflected a growth of about 50% more of the average number of
babies born since 1945.
Valarie made her transition from this earthly place on Monday,
February 15, 2021, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was the first born
child to Robert J. (Bobby Joe) and Ruby Clark. In 1962 the family
moved across the country and settled in Pomona, California
where Valarie continued her formal education and graduated
from Garey High School, in 1967. As an active and popular
student, Valarie went on to graduate from Mount San Antonio
College in Walnut, California and then attended California
Polytechnic (Cal Poly) College in Pomona, California. While
there, Val was a member of the future Teachers Association.
Val, accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was a baptized
member at age 17 with Second Baptist Church of Los Angeles,
the oldest (135 years) African American Church west of the
Mississippi, located in south Los Angeles, California. In 1971,
the Clark family returned to Detroit, and Valarie pursued
employment. In 1989, she married, moved to Fort Worth, and
gave birth to a daughter, Ashley Anne and they remained active
residents of Fort Worth, with husband, Andrew Berry.
Valarie loved to sing different gospel songs. She also loved to
role play all sorts of Black Historians such as, Rosa Parks, Martin
Luther King, Jr., Harriet Tubman, and many more. She retired
from Child Protective Services on August 30, 2013.
Valarie also has two siblings, a sister, Genevieve Clark-Dench
(Daniel F.) and a brother, Robert J. Clark, that has three children
(Katelynn, Brandon, and Aaron) and a granddaughter, Eleanor.
In addition to her siblings, Valarie has other relatives residing in
Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, Georgia, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio,
California, and Texas, as well as a host of friends and extended
family.
Those that preceded her in death include paternal grandparents
(Silas and Verna Clark; maternal grandparents, Jesse and Rose
Hill; her parents, Robert J. and Ruby Clark; aunts, Ann
Crawford, Helen Weaver, Mary T. Moss, and Franceta DuPerry;
uncles, Earl L. Clark and Nathaniel DuPerry and cousins,
Nathaniel DuPerry, Jr., Michael Hill, Alebrt Dawson, Thedrick
Dawson and Wendell Dawson, Perry Weaver, Dennis Weaver.
