Celebration of Christian Burial will be held  Saturday, February 28, 2015 At 9:30am St. Raymond-St. Leo Catholic Church 2916 Paris Avenue, New Orleans, La   Verna Mae Pichon Bailey was born in New Orleans, LA on October 12, 1934 to the union of Felix and Ora Pichon.  On February 17, 2015 surrounded by family she was called home to be with her Heavenly Father. Verna grew up in the 7th ward in Vosscoville and lived there most of her days. She loved being around family and friends. She organized many Pichon Family reunions. Verna loved to party and have a good time.  She loved going to the Gentilly  and NOHC Senior Centers to socialize with friends.  Everyone at the centers knew not to take her king-of-diamond Pokeno card.   Verna was married to the late Charles Bailey and  together they have five children, Donna Flot (Anthony), Claire Porter, Andrea Thomas, Brina Brown and Eric Bailey (Glynis) , Nine grandchildren, Tyrone Dejoie, Lakeisha Price (Kyren), Cedric Foster, Lawrence Doublet III (Renee), Javon Dejoie, Dontee Brown, Edward Thomas III, Amber Flot,  Erion    Bailey, and eight great grand- children. Also survived by two sisters Ora Mae Marioneaux and Agnes Laurent.  Preceded in death by sisters Clara Diaz and Teresa Salinas and brothers Alphonse, Ferdinand, Rene and Lester Pichon. Also preceded in death by a loving friend Charles (Papa Joe) Williams. Verna worked for the New Orleans Public Schools as a cafeteria worker for several years. She was a member of the KPC Ladies Auxiliary Court 78, the Saturday   Rosary Goup and Golden Hearts Senior Club.
