Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11am St. Christopher Episcopal Church, 3550 SW Loop 820 ~ Fort Worth, Texas   To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…” We come together for the “home going” of Viola Payton McGriff. A much loved and cherished person, not just among God and family but many others as well. “Going Home” is a blessed event; although our loved one is not here in the flesh, she is with us in love through her memory and she will never be forgotten nor forsaken. “A time to be born”… Viola Renalda Payton was born on February 10, 1950, to proud parents, Preston M. Payton and Gladys Cash Payton, in Fort Worth, Texas. She grew up in a loving home with her siblings, Oscar, Hillery and Preston. “And a time to learn and teach…” Viola, was educated in the Fort Worth Independent School District where she was a proud and esteemed graduated of Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. After graduation she went on to further her educational  endeavors at Texas Wesleyan University.  She worked for Cook Children’s Medical Center as a patient Access Specialist in Patient Registration, she worked there from September 1 until her retirement in June 2016. She had a special rapport with patients and families-who would often stop in to say hello. She was also an avid lover of cats. To know Renalda, as she was affectionately called, was to know she loved her family and friends, and would do anything for anyone-she always thought of others first. Viola loved God and being a servant of the Lord. She was a member of Saint Christopher Episcopal Church. She served as a Lector, Acolyte and Eucharistic Assistant. “And a time to die…” Viola completed her life on earth and went home to join her Lord and Savior, her parents, Preston M. Payton and Gladys Cash Payton; brothers, Preston Payton and Hillery Melvin “Marvelous Mel” Witt, and other loved ones on June 16, 2018. “I will not leave you comfortless...” Those left with fond and precious memories are her brother, Oscar Payton; nephews, Preston L. Payton, Joshua Witt, Hillery Melvin Witt, IV and Quintin Norton; nieces, Jasmine Witt and Violet Witt.
