Wesley Hatcher

Mr. Wesley Hatcher, Jr., affectionately called "Sugar Pie" by most, was born November 15, 1934, in Fairfield, Texas, to Wesley and Pinkie Kelly-Hatcher, Sr. "Sugar Pie" was reared in a Christian home where loved abided; he, along with his siblings, Kasab, Troy, Myrtle, Martha, Mary, Evelyn, Annie, Flower, Bessie, Riley, Bonnie and Berta Mae, shared an unbreakable bond of love, admiration and friendship with one another. Wesley was educated in the Fairfield Independent School District, where he was a graduate of Dogan High School.

At a period in life, "Sugar Pie", followed the Holy Scripture.Then the Lord God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him." Well, Wesley found the love of his life, the beautiful Mrs. Dorothy Louise, who became a consummate "help meet" to him. For they became the ideal couple for others to model themselves after. They were hard-working, industrious people with a vision to help Gods people and anyone that was in need. The ideal couple, followers of God, decided to become parents and grow their family beyond just the two of them. They became the proud and esteem parents of Billy, Dorothy, Brenda, Deborah and Cheryl. For their family meant everything to them. They worked hard to provide a life of sustainability, honor, Christian values and a great education for their children.

Mr. Hatcher became an entrepreneur, owning and operating Hatcher Enterprise. He had a love for antique cars, which led him to opening a paint and body shop, with a full service station. "Sugar Pie" also divided his interest with motorcyclesCan you believe it? Wesley joined the Fort Worth Hawks Motorcycle Club. Wesley also built a Beauty Salon in the heart of Stop 6 so they his lovely wife and adorable daughters could also pursue entrepreneurship. When Mr. Hatcher was not working at the family business he would enjoy time watching his favorite actor John Wayne, play roles in Western Films. However, his most favorite leisure time was helping to cultivate the lives of his grandchildren, great grands and even great-great grands. He looked forward to spending quality time with them and watching them grow to become productive citizens.

Wesley Hatcher was a man that loved God. He was an active and faithful member of First Riverside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. As described by Apostle Paul, the qualities of a deacon in 1 Timothy 3: 8-13; seem to fit Mr. Hatcher very well. I would say he was a perfect choice to have this honor bestowed upon him. "In the same way, deacons must be well respected and have integrity. They must not be heavy drinkers or dishonest with money. They must be committed to the mystery of the faith now revealed and must live with a clear conscience. They must exercise self-control and be faithful in everything they do. A deacon must be faithful to his wife, and he must manage his children and household well. Those who do well as deacons will be rewarded with respect from others and will have increased confidence in their faith in Christ Jesus."

Deacon Hatcher always placed God, family and his fellow man before himself; leading a life of faith, goodness, righteousness and purity of spirit that was beyond compare. His life on earth and surely beyond, is so well declared in 2 Timothy 4;7-8, "he fought a good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith, now there will be in store for him a crown of righteousness."

On September 21, 2015, Mr. Wesley "Sugar Pie" Hatcher, Jr., heard and answered the call of God, "Come to me all ye that are heavy laden, and I will give thee rest". He is now seated at the welcome table with his parents, his brothers-Riley and Bonnie and his sister-Berta Mae; awaiting that great coronation where all Gods children will gather at home.

He leaves fond and precious memories in the lives and hearts of his beloved wife, Mrs. Dorothy Louise Hatcher; his loving children, Billy Hatcher, Sr., Dorothy Jones (Sylvester), Brenda Hatcher, Deborah Bell (David) and Cheryl Scott Brown; his adorable grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; his cherished siblings, Kasab Elamin (Gloria), Troy Solomon, Myrtle Alford, Martha Nero, Mary James, Evelyn Bowie (Walter), Annie Gray (Maceo), Flower White, and Bessie Nolen (Alonzo); and a loving host of other family and friends.
