On Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at the age of 51, Alonzo Shaw closed his eyes in peace and entered heaven's gate. Celebration of life: 1 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary of Christian Chapel CME Church, 1005 W. Market St., Honey Grove. Burial: Dodge City. Visitation: Noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jimerson Chapel of Serenity Funerals and Cremations Survivors: Wife, Shelia Denson-Shaw; parents, Alonzo Shaw and Ollie Shaw; children, Kekika Denson, Misty Anthony (Keaon), Jennifer Gray of Logan's Port, La.; Ahamad Denson, Alonzo D. Shaw Jr.; siblings, Sabrina Shaw, Felicia Shaw-Nails, Daphne Shaw, CaShonda Jones, Corey Shaw and Courtland Jones; and a host of loving family and friends. On Saturday, January 18, 1964, a bouncing baby boy was born to Mr. Alonzo and Mrs. Ollie Shaw, in the town of Honey Grove, Texas. This welcomed joy from God would be named, ALONZO DARNELL SHAW. Alonzo and his siblings, Daphne, Sabrina, Corey Emonn, Felicia, Courtland, and CaShonda, share an unbreakable bond of love and friendship that not even death itself can separate. As a child Alonzo was reared to love God; he accepted God as his personal Savior at an early age while living in Carson, Texas. Additionally, Alonzo was educated in Sam Rayburn Independent School District, graduating from Sam Rayburn High School, class of 1982. Upon graduating from high school he went on to matriculate on the campus of East Texas Baptist University, in Marshall, Texas; where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. To know Alonzo was to love him. He had such a great personality and spirit. In his past time you could find him in the kitchen cooking. He enjoyed cooking and trying new and different recipes. Next to cooking he loved sports! He would watch and talk about sports with anybody that would listen. He had several favorite “teams”, whether they played football, basketball or baseball. You wanted a good conversation bring up sports. And the two shall become one…………. Alonzo met the lovely Mrs. Shelia Denson and after a period of courtship he asked for her hand in marriage and she became Shelia Denson-Shaw. On January 20, 2014, comforted by his caring family, Alonzo Darnell Shaw, entered into the pearly gates of heaven where he met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with his brother, Steven Shaw. Those who await that great reunion is, his wife, Shelia Denson-Shaw; children, Nekika Denson, Ahmad Denson, Misty Denson-Anthony (Keaon), Jennifer Gray of Logans Port, LA and Alonzo D. Shaw, Jr.; father, Alonzo Shaw of Telephone, TX; mother, Ollie Allen-Shaw of Midlothian, TX; siblings, Daphne Shaw of Midlothian, TX; Sabrina Shaw of Fort Worth, TX, Corey Shaw of Longview, TX, Felicia Shaw-Nails of Arlington, TX, Courtland Jones and CaShonda Jones both of Bonham, TX; nine grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
