Alice Tyler welcomed a beautiful baby girl; as she looked into the eyes of her darling innocent baby she knew her name would be Delores. Delores was reared in a loving home with her mother. The family relocated to Gary, Indiana in 1938. She accepted the risen Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized into the blood of Christ at an early age. She became a member of the St. Timothy Community Church in Gary Indiana., where she served on Usher Board. She also served as a member of the Hatcherettes; a group devoted to the advancement of African American in political leadership. She continued her fellowship in the Body of Christ while in Fort Worth at Beth Eden Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. B.R. Daniels, Sr., where she was a proud member of the Seniors on the Move. She attended school in the Gary Independent School District at Roosevelt K-12 and proudly graduated in 1950. She believed fervently in education and did not let anything get in her way. In pursuit her educational endeavors Delores studied at Indiana University, where she obtained her BA; a BS, from St. Joseph College, and her MS, from Indiana University. Her passion for education spilled over into to her career choice and she became a teacher in the Gary Independent School District. She taught at Gary Indiana Drew Elementary, but she is most remembered for her tenure at Tolleston Jr. High in Gary. This was her last assignment before deciding to relocate to Fort Worth, Texas in 1983. She continued to teach in the Fort Worth Independent School District. She taught at Dunbar Middle School, Forest Oak Middle School and finally South Hills High School; where she was fortunate to teach some of her students for four consecutive years; she retired from her educational career in 2004. Delores was an inspiration to all those that knew and loved her. In her free time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading poetry, watching cooking shows, and of course she enjoyed watching college football and basketball games. Her greatest time was spent with her family, especially time spent with her grandchildren. On February 15, 2018, Delores took flight and joined her loved ones that are awaiting to welcome her in heaven her mother, Alice Odessa Tyler, and brother, Willis Childs Thomas, Jr. “When peace like a river attendeth my way. When sorrow like sea billows roll. Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say it is well, it is well with my soul.” As Delores crosses over the great chasm of life, she waves goodbye but leaves the assurance it is well with her soul. Those left to cherish the memories and celebrate the life are her children, John David Gore (Rose) and Donna Nicole Gore; grandchildren: Terrance Donnell Clark(Jasmine), Alisha Paige Clark, Jessica Anne Gore, Janelle Kathleen Gore and Jasmine Camille Gore; great grandchildren, Harley Paige Clark and Laila Rose;
