A time to cherish, Jewel accepted Christ at an early age and matriculated in the Navarro County Public Schools. She joined the Corinth Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. B.B. Johnson and Rev. C.C. Cyphers and she was a faithful member for over 75 years. During her early years at Corinth she was a member of the senior choir and the Women’s Missionary Society. A time to love… She met and fell in love with a dashing young man by the name of Andy Edwards, the two were wed in April of 1938; after uniting in holy matrimony they moved to Fort Worth, Texas. To this union two sons and a daughter were born. At the time of Andy’s passing on June 22, 2003 , they had been happily married for 65 years.  This year would have marked their 80th anniversary. Jewel was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She loved to cook, sew and keep her home immaculately clean. She also enjoyed baking and pineapple coconut cakes were her specialty for the church. As soon as she would arrive in the church fellowship hall, her cake sold within minutes, for the church fundraiser. A time to die, On January 6, 2018, in her beloved home, Jewel heard the call of her Master, saying “come unto me all that are heavy laden and I will give thee rest”, and she took His hand. She is now reunited with her parents, Bessie Blandford-Collins and John Collins, three brother,  Edward, Leroy and C.D. Collins and two sisters, Jimmie Collins and Tommie Thompson. He will not leave you comfortless… Loving sons, Curtis Edwards of Fort Worth, Texas and Errol Edwards (Lenora) of Arlington, Texas, daughter, Beverly Edwards of Grand Prairie, Texas, eight grand children, 18 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
