Robert L. Lowe was born on November 18, 1951, in Monroe, Louisiana to Reverend Leeandrew Lowe and Ethel Lowe. He peacefully transitioned on, June 3, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Robert’s early years were spent in Monroe, Louisiana where he graduated from Wossman High School. His post-secondary education began at Grambling State University where he committed to playing football. Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Tucson, Arizona, where he also attended the University of Arizona. At the completion of his enlistment, the family moved back to Monroe where Robert earned his bachelor’s degree and played football at Northeast Louisiana University.
Faith was an important part of Robert’s life. As a young man, his Christian journey began at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana. In November of 2016, Robert began to fellowship with the First True Love North Church under the leadership of Pastor Joe Daniels, Jr., where he faithfully served and assisted with teaching Sunday School. He became one of the first ordained Deacons at First True Love North Church.
Robert’s 44-year tenure in education and coaching began in Morgan City, Louisiana at Central Catholic, where in his first year, he led the baseball team to a state championship. His career moved the family to Texas. He taught and coached in Houston before moving to Fort Worth as a teacher and coach at Polytechnic High School. Robert’s career concluded at Jean McClung Middle School where he led the Trojans football team to the playoffs each season for the past 14 years. Throughout his career, Robert was not only a respected coach but also a mentor to countless students. His dedication to excellence, both on and off the field, left an unforgettable mark on every community he touched. Known for his calm demeanor, strategic mindset, and unwavering compassion, Robert inspired others to strive for greatness while embracing the values of teamwork and perseverance. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he guided, taught, and coached, ensuring that his influence will be felt for generations to come.
Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Lowe and his father, Reverend Leeandrew Lowe.
Robert’s life will be cherished by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Lowe, their daughter, Monica (Joe) Daniels and grandson Aaron (Jessica) Lowe of Fort Worth, Texas. His mother-in-law, C.D. Moore, brother-in-law, Donnye (Patricia) Moore of Monroe, Louisiana and nephew, Brent Moore, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana along with a host of other relatives, friends, former students and colleagues.
